yes 1 amp will kill a battery eventually. If I leave the scanner on overnight the truck will start. If I leave it on all weekend the truck will start. If I leave the scanner on in the truck for more than about 4 days the truck will not start. Im not sure how much the thing draws but its less than 1 amp. Car radios seem to drain a typical system in about 6 or 8 hours from my past experiences

I am making some progress here. Her truck would not start again this morning, so I pulled the IOD fuse and that droped me from about 1 amp to flickering between .1 and .2
So ScottN, does this for sure sound like a radio gone wild? Like I said before when I pulled the radio fuse I was only dropping from 1amp to about .8 amps I am an electrical meathead. SOunds like the constant hot is doing something bad to the stereo........ but in my little donkey brain I thought pullin the fuse for the stereo would cure all. Guess not. Will yank out stereo and see what happens.

Pulled the stereo and still had .4 or .5 of an amp draw and her truck would not start again this morning. She has it booked into a professional for tommorow morning. I should have just pulled the IOD fuse for the night, but whatever. There is a reason I hate electrical stuff in vehicles.

Well I guess you have to figure out what the IOD disables. Its mostly for display purposes so that the interior lights and accessories are disabled I think.. Anyhow, I guess someone else can figure that out...LOL...

I'm still thinking it's the STCM. Pretty easy to test. Start with your windows down. Turn the key on for a couple seconds, then off. Get out and shut the doors. DO NOT open the doors until you finish this check. Come back to it in an hour and, WITHOUT OPENING THE DOORS, pull on the seatbelts. If you can pull them out, your module is bad.
