01 Brake fade

My brotherinlaws 01's brakes fade out when he brakes lightly at first and then really applies pressure at about 50 mph. He can stand on the pedal with two feet and barely come to stop. It's been a intermitten(?) problem for 3 years that has just gotten really bad. The brakes have been replaced and the dealership can't find a problem, other than making the truck come to a stop. Anybody else encounter this or got any suggestions?

Sounds like there could be air in the system. The 01 should have the hydraboost brake system that runs off the power steering pump. They are quite finicky if any air is in the system.

Does it have 4 wheel ABS? Sounds similar to what our Durango does in a panic stop. No brakes. I have a buddy with an '02 Ram and 4 wheel ABS and he says the same thing. It's like the brakes fade out but it is the ABS. Really sucks and if it was me driving the Durango all the time it would NOT have them working anymore.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
More info needed.
Dually?
What size tires?
Any load?
Are rear brakes working? properly adjusted? Showing wear as in doing work?
A 2000 PSI gauge hooked into Caliper bleed port should show 1000 PSi in static test, Rears somewhat less.
