If your unsure about a repair project use his videos. He is very detailed and moves at a good pace. My kid rebuilt my Tranny by doing it in front of the TV and hitting pause in between each step, worked great. This was his first time on a Tranny and it went with out a hitch. Also forgot to mention his customer service was great. Front hubs and bearings are the next project with his video, hopefully this weekend.

I lost my 5th gear/nut in my '99 while towing a 32' TT to MT last September on a hunting trip. Out of desperation, I contacted a good friend back in MN for help. He searched the internet and found QUAD 4x4 to be the best option for permanently fixing the 5th gear nut problem -- and I was only 350 miles away. I called Dan and he was able to work my truck (and my schedule) into his schedule. Coming from a body shop background, I was interested in his operation. To say the least, I was very impressed! I also had him install a new Con O clutch while he had it tore apart. Dan & QUAD 4x4 bailed me out of a tight jam. More importantly, I received exceptional work at a great price. Unfortunately, my insurance company wouldn't let me pull the tranny out of the truck after I wrecked it (without paying $4k for the salvage cost) -- I had less than 7000 miles on the rebuilt tranny. Oh well, at least I have a nice "QUAD 4x4" hat to show for it...

Heck, $4k might have been worth buying it back.

Which tranny do you like, now that you have an auto?

I seriously thought about buying it back -- just didn't have the extra cash or storage space. Outside of the drive train, there wasn't much else salvageable.

I went with the auto due to my wife being 4'11" and having a hard time holding the steering wheel, depressing the clutch, and putting it into 5th (and something about her complaining for not being able to share the driving during long trips). She likes to drive and has a part-time job driving a school bus that has a diesel, but it also has an auto. Hands down, I prefer the control and feel of a manual. The QUAD 4x4 rebuilt NV4500 with the ConO would have lasted me a long, long time. I just shake my head every time I think about it...
