I just bought this '02 a couple of days ago and today I noticed that the front axle housing does not have the vacuum box/switch/ports on the passenger side. I've had many 4X4 24Vs and every one of them had that CAD system. At first I thought it might be unique to '02s (this is my first) but I checked my dad's '02 and it has a CAD box. Both trucks are 2002 3/4 tons with 6 speeds, Dana 60 front axles, and 3.55 gears.
Would someone please explain why it would not be there on my new truck and how this axle/4wd system works without it?

Late '02's have a single piece axle shaft, early '02's have the CAD still. Check the build dates on the two trucks, should tell you the same thing.

 

And you got the better one..... If it still bothers you, let me know, I will swap you front ends and vac stuff.............

Get a set of lockouts, and be happy.
