Dad has a 99' Dodge CTD Auto 4x4 and we think it's time to rebuild the transmission. We found an 03 truck that has been rolled over, it also has the CTD auto 4x4.
I noticed that the 03 is third gen, so what is compatible?

Body is different, engine components different, Tranny will perhaps interchange, Diffs are different, and on and on. If cheap enough, you can part out for good sales.

Almost nothing interchanges, 03 is the first year for the common rail.
You could swap complete axles, but not parts of teh axles, tranny will work with some minor revisions.
Basically, not a good idea.

Thanks, the rolled over truck is $5k. So, after reading these posts, it's definitely not worth it. And the guy said that the axles were broken, but the rest of the drive train is good.
We just received a quote from the transmission shop. They said that the dodge has lost second gear completely and they'll rebuild the trans for $1,650.00....I think that's a much better deal
