WIX new and improved fuel filter?

Went to Oriellys to get a spare fuel filter for my trip and they gave me what they call the new and improved WIX filter that ends in EX. Only problem that I can see, is it isn't big enough on the top to lock into my filter cap. Is this a big deal?

They might've given you wrong one, how much was it anyways?

They swore up and down that it was the right one. I argued with them for a while but they showed me on the computer and they didn't even have the other one in stock. I think it was about $21, and if I'm not mistaken the old one was @ $18. They tried this with my wife's '03 but I took it back and put one out of my '01 in it...perfect fit. I don't think it'll matter anyway because the only difference is the diameter of the top and it won't lock into the lid.

I would take it back. I got a pair for Statapores for my truck off of ebay for $30 shipped, $15 isn't bad at all for a quality filter.

I'll definately take it back once I return from the trip. I'm leaving first thing in the morning and won't have a chance but I figure it'll get me out of a bind if needed.
