Will the quick connector fuel supply on top of tank suck air?
Has anyone replaced the quick connector on top of the tank to eliminate sucking air. Or will it suck air?
Seems like I read, somebody removed the quick connector and pushed a 3/8 rubber hose over the plastic fittting and eliminated the quick connector. Will this work?

Does that truck have a intank lift pump ?
If so it can not suck air , pressure in both directions , lift pump -pressure out of tank , return -pressure return .
So if you have a leak , it would be fuel .
You may get a hose & clamp to seal .
Whats the reason for eliminating the quick coupler ? - if you can leave it stock , with a new Oring , it may be a more positive seal .

They would be available from Napa , but the issue would be installing , some special tools , plastic fuel line .
There's parts of your story missing , such as , do you have it apart or trying to solve a problem ?
If you think you have a leak in fuel line / hose , put about 3-5 lbs air pressure in tank then you will see fuel if there is an issue with lines/hose's ,
You can make a fixture with a spare fuel cap & shrader valve , or a piece of inner tube with the valve , just not more than a few lbs .
The more info the easier to help .

Thanks for the response and trying to help me.
I suspect I'm sucking air and making the lift pump cavitate. I have normal pressure then once a week or so, the pressure drops down to 5-7. I can turn the truck off, let it sit for 20 seconds, crank it up and the fuel pressure is normal again.
It also does it the worst when the tank is full, especially after I fill it up. It's weird.

I would 1st , just because its easy & cheap , replace the fuel filter .
Then I would check , at least whats in my truck , a overflow valve , all fuel injected systems create pressure by restricting the return , so what ever the name of that part is called in your system , I would suspect , some times weak springs , dirty valve / cylinder ect .
Trying to avoid the costly part , but the VP pump is a troublesum pump , from what I have gathered is that the lift pump goes & that kills the main pump .
I am not that familiar with your system , just been wrenching for a few decades .
