What's wrong with the common-rail? It's a 24V too. Just feeds fuel differently. Why would you want to swap back to a VP44 system? I thought the CR trucks run great.

Dude, yer talkin' the complete wiring harness, instruments, ECM, everything - would be easier if manual trans, but still no easy task - everything in your truck corresponds with the ECM on an intra-net - any part missing: a\c, windshield wipers, security, etc, ECM gets very unhappy, refuses to play anymore - all started with the '98 24v, got worse with the common-rail 24v - not even a simple engine-swapperoonie

why not a 12v if your wanting a swap? then you dont need to worry about all the electrical stuff!

theres nothing wrong with my common rail, just dont like it, personal preference i guess, i have talked to a diesel mechanic who told me that if i had all the wiring harnesses it would be fairly easy except when it comes to the wiring for the guages, i have a 6 speed standard so im not worried about that wiring for the auto. i wouldn't mind a 12 valve, just like the older 24 valves, just a preference.
