My vp has to be on its last leg. I need it to last about 2 weeks before i can put my other one on. What symptoms if any did u see before the vp-44 left you stranded?

 

I had no symptoms when mine went out. Ran like normal up till it just shut off.

 

Absolutely no symptoms until it died like on me at 45 mph like someone turned off a lightswitch.

 

I guess I was lucky, All of a sudden it was pouring out white smoke and I could only go about 20 mph but it made the 15 miles to the nearest cummins shop and saved me a tow bill .

 

This is why there should be a recall - its a safety issue.

How many gassers do that?

 

How many 'drivers' have the presence of mind to kick the tranny into Neutral and coast across 3 lanes to get to the shoulder of the road and out of the flow of traffic instead of immediately nailing the brake in the middle of the fast lane?

Mine has 26500 and counting with DPS (dead peddle syndrome) I have replaced lift pump only that possibly fixed problem for about 1000 miles soooo....I can't believe that this problem has so many symptoms.

 

No warning for mine, dad had an empty boat trailer in tow when is shutdown at 55mph, in the left lane. Had to go pick that one up at 10pm with the trailer.

 

...any and all of them have that capability.

 

Mine laid down the day after I put the Comp in. 60mph at WOT and she quit like Ed said, someone flipped a switch. No MIL, no warning, running hard then dead.

 

Mine died at the top of a canyon, white smoke and rough running.
coasted most of the way down the canyon made it 45 miles home then installed new VP.
Wish I had gone the HRVP route now. Anyone want a almost new VP so I can go get a HRVP?

that is why you should always carry a spare VP-44 in your back seat and the tools just in case

 

Mine started loosing prime and I'd have to crack injectors to start it again. It did this for about 3 days before the vp died in a white cloud of glory on I-25. It didn't throw any codes until it was completey dead.

 

I carry a spare Lift Pump ($139.00) with me, but a spare VP @ $1,000+ a pop?......I'll never be that prepared.
