Where to buy a vp44 - recommendations?

I have gotten the dreaded code 0216 and I need some advice on where to buy a rebuilt vp44. The dealer wants $3000 to replace it. I have decided to do it myself with the help of a buddy who is a mechanic. I need to know who sells these with all the necessary hardware at a good price? I have read that some do not come with all the hardware such as o-rings, etc. and to not buy the ones made in CZ. So, I need some help. I have read that MWFI and Pensacola Diesel are good. Any suggestions? Thanks

I won't suggest your Vp44 isnt gone...
but have you changed the fuel filter?
have you install a fuel pressure gauge? is it reading over 5psi?

I only ask because when I bought my truck is had p0234, p0236, p0216..I changed the filter and installed a pressure gauge..so far no more codes.

sure I suspect that I'll be replacing the vp44 in the future but not at the moment.

Yes, the fuel filter is good and my edge monitor says fuel pressure ranges 11-14 and 10 wot. I do get the dead pedal every once in awhile but that is the apps. I just want to make sure I get everything to replace the injection pump.

Bought mine through Diesel Distributors USA. Also got a Raptor 100 lift pump. Everything you need is included, no core charge unless old pump isn't returned within a month. Very easy to replace. Took me under 2 hours for the pump and another 1.5 hours for the Raptor.

since you're close to industrial injection in slc ut they would be a good choice

vp-44

I got mine from clicking on the ad at the home page ($1030.00). I watched diesel-dan's videos on you tube and did it myself. I'm not a mechanic but it was pretty easy, Dan tells you what tools to get and everything. I also did the lift pump. Got that from BD Diesel in Vancouver. It was about $450 CDN. Thats about $400 USD, also real easy to change with instructions included. The hardest thing about changing the VP-44 was the lines. Get a 19mm stubby wrench, I used a standard length. The VP took about 4 hours and I was working slow, the pump took about 2 hours. Good Luck.

I just replaced mine last month. Got it from www.mwfi.com for $1250 with new lift pump. Took about 3 hours total to swap out.

Just take your time, don't hurry and use a light and a mirror to make sure the key is lined up and not jammed before torquing the nut on the pump shaft. I think that replacing the VP is a perfect way to get familiar with these trucks: you get to touch all the vital parts and are not afraid of it anymore.
I bought mine from Pensacola Diesel and had no problems with it for nearly two years now. I looked on E-bay for the best price and called the supplier to inquire if they are an authorized Bosch facility, and they told me yes and that in fact sometimes they re-sell VP44s from II when they run short of their own.

Actualy dead pedal can be the apps to! It was on mine! What are you looking for? A hot rod pump or just a stock replacement? Scheid or industrial injection has got my vote!
