when and if to adjust valves?
Hi All...
I have a 2002 quad cab 4wd.... I have read that after 2001 there are hydraulic lifters that eliminate the need for valve adjustment... Is this true?
I have never had this done, the truck definitley sounds clickety-clack like a school bus.... I am in the middle of fixing a couple issues and doing some mods... is this something I need to think about?
Thanks iin advance!

I did mine in the parking lot of my Apt. complex. There is a great how-to in the tech facts here. (with pics) Having never done the job before it only took me about an hour. 1.5 of shop labor may be a bit steep for someone who has done the job before.

I did mine at 45K, and I will do it again when I get back this fall at 145K.
If you are going to check them, you might as well do it. You still have to get TDC, pull the valve cover off, and check them. Might as well just do them. You will find they are probably in-spec., but I put mine to the minimums. They were all within the entire range.
