Whats up with the leaking driveshaft/transfer case seal?
I have a leaky driveshaft seal at the transfercase for the second time but this time it leaks from outer edges (metal to metal surface) of the seal and not the rubber part. I cleaned evrything great when I installed it and it fit tight, too. This was only about 2000 miles ago. I REALLY dont feel like spending another $60 for new one again! Thats a lot of money to keep trying untill it works. Any suggestions?

Havent felt any vibrations. And the u-joints are fairly new and tight. I guess having it balanced again couldnt hurt. I was wondering if the exhuast brake could cause any side affects like this?

I use weather strip/seal adhesive.....we call it "gorilla snot" because it is yellow. It is very thin and wicks into cracks much better than silicone. It is perfect for metal on metal seal leaks like what you are experiencing now. It is usually available over the counter at NAPA. Many mechanics around here use it for the exact problem you are having.....but it only works when used on the seal during installation.

If there is too much end play from the output shaft of the NV4500 (due to wear) it has no where to go, but to push against the input shaft of the transfer case. I don't know if this fits exactly what you've got going on, but you might want to eliminate it from the list of possibilities.
