What kind of pumps are you looking at? Most pumps for the diesels have built in regulators.

Most say that 20 psi is about all you want to feed to the vp.

Any pressure above 15 is a waste for the VP-44 pump. By running more pressure (ussually to feel good ), is just heating the fuel.
I do not know what pressure causes damage.

I believe anything over 14psi causes the VP psi relief valve to open. At that point you're supplying all the fuel it needs and more. Adding any more psi than this ahead of the filter housing will only cause you fuel leak issues...probably not right away but it will occur mainly around the top of the fuel heater wires leading into the filter canister.

No one seems to know for sure, how much FP is too much!
Most people running 16-20 have no problems after years of service. Some claim no problems running 25-30 psi??
I wonder about the cooling effect (to the VP-44) of circulating some additional fuel. Could it be a positive?

I don't see the fuel heating from extra fuel pressure being a problem.
I was one of many involved in a study to test fuel temps (in the tank) under different conditions.
All tests involving fuel temps after 1 hr or more of continuous operation showed amazing consistancy.....
no matter what the fuel pressure involved was, or what level of fuel remained in the tank.
Tank fuel always seems to run about 15* above ambient air temps.

Those having an Adrenaline box, have the ability to read Fuel Temps, at the VP-44.
It would be interesting to compare these when knowing the fuel pressure, in each case, as well!

I agree with this, i put 20psi to my fuel filter canister and started having fuel leak out around the fuel filter canister, primarily the heating element wires that go into the top. I adjusted mine back down to around 14psi at idle just for this reason.

This is off topic, but to add something on temps., i read years ago that testing showed 80* diesel gave the best mileage. Along with 800* EGT.

I've been running close to 40 to mine for the last two years with no leaks from the filter. Seems pretty sporadic.
