What is this noise?

I have noticed that while pulling my trailer up hills, that after awhile the engine noise will change quit dramaticly. By this, it gets really loud like a turbo fan has clicked on or something. Then when I crest the hill it goes away. Am I just crazy or is this some sort of cooler kicking in?

When it is usually hot outside, I can actually hear when the clutch fan enguages outside the truck. Mine kicks on and off, What I mean is that it will be on for 1 minute, then off for five or so. I dont think you have any thing to worry about.
BTW, my dads chevy 6.5 is the same as yours, on a hill when hot, you can hear it(sounds like a vacuum sweeper)
