Weep Hole
Ok I give up where is my weep hole I can't find it. I went to http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/coo.../weep_hole.htm and still can't find it. My truck is a 2001 or a late 2000. :

Re:Weep Hole
It's some place on the bottom half of the pump, usually at 6 o'clock (straight down). I have seen in the past where mud dobbers have used this hole for a nest and if it has been covered with mud, then road grime, you may not be able to see it. If you can get a wire brush around the bottom half of the water pump it will make quick work of the dirt in there. You could also poke around the suggested locations with a screwdriver or ice pick.

I have looked, probed, stuck, and wire brushed the whole water pump except on the very bottom b/c I can't get in to it. Is it possible my truck doesn't have a weep hole ?? I looked for about a hour and nothing

On the very bottom is where it would be. If it was "weeping" you'd find it.
I'll not say it isn't possible but I've never heard of one without it. Again, if you've not been able to get to the very bottom you won't find it unless it is leaking. If it is not leaking why are you looking for it. (Just curious)

Re:Weep Hole
Well the reason I am looking for it is because according to my maintenance book I'm supposed to clean it every 15 thousand miles. I just found out about the weep hole and my truck has 70 thousand on it so I thought it might need to be cleaned out. Is this not necessary ???

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Re:Weep Hole
Personally I have never seen a water pump without a weep hole, but as stated above they do get clogged up. Have you tried using one of those mirrors on a rod that can be manipulated using your thumb? If the pump is not leaking it is no problem but if it weeps then the weep hole had better be open.

Re:Weep Hole
So far (knock on wood) I've not gotten anything anywhere near the water pump that would plug the weep hole.
Extended the blow by hose to under the engine and behind the front axle so don't have that prob. I check my weep hole twice a year with a mirror and bright light when I'm doing my semi-annual bumper to bumper on the truck. The rest of the time I just run my finger under the pump to see if it is damp.
If you have a puke bottle or an open blow by hose you may very likely get oil and dirt plugging the hole. If you go "muddin'" you may get it plugged with mud. Otherwise you're not likely to get it plugged.
Since I've had no reason to think mine would get plugged I've not thought of how I would clean it if it was. Guess I'll have to go out and check that part out - just in case.
