Water in Fuel and Oil Pressure gauge tweaking out

A friend of mine has a dodge 99 qc 4x4 automatic short bed with about 120K on it. He bought it used about a year ago and the past two months his dash has been tweaking out. His water in fuel light it on nearly constantly. He said he cleaned out the sensor and replaced the fuel filter which didnt help it any. Also the oil pressure gauge spasms. sometimes it reads normal pressure and other times it goes dead and the check gauges light dings on, then a few seconds later it will read normal again. Not sure if the two are interrelated but just thought I'd throw this out and see if anyone had similar issues and how they were addressed. Oh he also got a code for a crank position sensor which he thinks is the answer but i don't see how they'd be related... Any help is appreciated! thanks

well maybe my 3 cents may help or confuse. when I had dash light problems like this, just talking the random lights coming on and oil pressure needle moving wierd. was I had a dash bulb burn out and I replaced it and took apart the dash not to bad of job and cleaned everything. everything was filthy. I cleaned all of my bulb sockets wires and put dilectric grease on them when you put you dash back in there is a male/female main plug(dont know what it is called) this was really dirty. cleaned it and put everything back together. this is when my problems started to happen. the next day I was driving my truck on a blm road really bumpy and it happened. about a week later I thought to take it apart. I guess the main connection was not snuggly making contact. fixed it and dont have these problems anymore. I have heard of others having the same problem when they take apart there dash and put in a aftermarket dash cover etc. dont know if his truck has the same issue. also the oil pressure gauge in the truck isnt really a accurate item. they can flip out at times and go back to some what normal I have seen. do a search on oil pressure gauges there is alot of reading on 2nd and 3rd gen on the same issue. his fuel/water issue may get cleared up with the dash tear down but if he is cleaned or replaced. the sensor that is the big thing. I would think the sensor would be key on this. so he has pulled the codes. and only the crank position has came. to me these would not be related. he can get a oil pressure gauge and kit that ports into the top of the oil filter housing and run it to the cab for some extra insurance. they are not that expensive. I have just recently bought one and will soon be starting a thread on that chore. hope more reply good luck to your friend
