Warranty Running Out!
My 36K warranty is running out on my 2001.5. No real problems identified and its been a good truck to date. Anything I should check closely before I become "my own warranty station"? Posted here since drivetrain related is most expensive !
Thanks,
Tim

Re:Warranty Running Out!
Check for any signs of engine oil leaking at the vacuum pump/powersteering pump area that would indicate that the vacuum pump seal and/or o-ring are leaking. Be very aware of anything out of the ordinary as far as tranny operation. Especially the 1-2 shift. When I bought my truck, I thought that shift was a little slow but had nothing to compare it to. Came to find out that the 2nd gear band was very worn and that led to a $3000.00 tranny rebuild. Then I found out on this site that this problem is very common. If you have the luxury of another CTD owner that you know in your area, let him drive your truck and see if he notices anything you may have "gotten used to". Good Luck!

Just remember, the engine has a 5 year/100K warranty, if you don't bomb it. :

7 year/100K on mine ;D
Did that start with 2002's, or were they doing it for the 2001's?
Of course, the stuff that will break only has the 3year/36K.

Re:Warranty Running Out!
Trans is a big concern of mine. I am going to have the 30K service interval done by the dealer (I usually service my own stuff) . I want one good band adjustment/inspection before I cross over. Sent in an oil analysis also. As for the 100K warranty, I just can't wait any longer for the bombing to begin. Its the only stock vehicle I have so its time for it to join in with the rest of 'em! Thanks for the replys.
