What is your fuel pressure? You may or may not need an injection pump. Check the lift pump pressure first!!

Can't comment on anyone else's VP44.

Welcome aboard.
Do yourself a favor and fill out your signature under the UserCP tab. The sig helps us know what you have and what your problem may be.
You can drive around with the P0216 but you will lose mileage and power at an alarming rate. I just replaced mine with a combo vp44 and FASS from MWFI. Good deal on the pair and they have a 30 day no-core period and provide return shipping of the core.

I just put a BD hot rod pump in my truck and its been working good. Made my Hx 35 spin out 40 psi. I haven't had any issuses yet in 3 weeks. I've seen some new VPs do some funny things but this one drives good. Just don't recomend running the hr pump on a stock turbo with 80 hp injectors lol.

It all depends on what years your trucks are because the 98.5-00 have a weaker diaphram as compared to the 01-02 vp's. Even if you talk to cummins they will recommend the fuel pressure no higher than 20 psi at any time because of the possible problem of the diaphram failing. Besides I would only run it around 15-18 psi because that is all that is needed. I haven't read anything or talked to anyone that has given me any reason to think that there is a need for that much pressure to be used in the fuel system.

please if there is something that I haven't been told about fuel pressure here, let me know. sorry to sort of hijack your thread.

Stay with your beliefs. As long as the vp44 has positive supply pressure at all times it will be fine. I dont fall for all the myths and mis-conceptions. Monitor and drive by your guages. They will tell you when lift pumps start to head south.
