don't know about price but everything I've heard about M & D has been good. The shop in Dallas was pretty nice when I was there. One thing to make sure is that you got the pump keyway aligned. I've seen numerous pumps with keys cut in halve. It is real easy to do. If you don't get it perfect it can happen and the the truck runs bad. The pump will be out of time and the computer can't figure out whats going on. Good Luck!

First of all Thank You everyone who has offered help.
Im not sure how to tell if my pump has a overflow valve.
I am certain the key ligned up, I put the pulley nut on and about every 2 turns I pulled the nut back off to check if the key was still slotted in an was aligning properly, using a mirror and mag light.
After the install the truck started but was idling very rough, then it smoothed out and idled very nice and smooth.
The fuel pressure was at 13 at idle so I turned off the truck and put a new fuel filter on then I couldnt get the lift pump to even come on. No pressure.
All fittings have been checked countless times for fuel leakage. Its all dry.
Hopefully NAPA will warranty out another lift pump for me.

Something I just noticed. You have an HO pickup. If you put an SO pump it is going to feel like you lost the bottom end. The HO pumps have way more bottom end fueling then the SO's. This may be why it feels slower. This is what I'm betting on. Your sig also doesn't mention any power adders. Put some type of timeing box on there and you should get back some of you low end grunt. Like mention 1693 is a companion code and means nothing if it's the only code. Get it erased and see if it or any other codes come back.

Seems aweful high for a stock pump......
I'd verify you have the correct pump for your engine (H.O.) High output (S.O.) Standard Output)
The II HRVP on my '98 runs like a scalded cat.............with the smarty smokes like a locomotive.

Anyone know why the lift pump will not stay on?
If I turn the key to the off postion then to on, the lift pump will come on for about 3 seconds and go Off.
If I start the truck the low fuel pressure alarm goes off.
I have not run my truck with the low fuel pressure alarm sounding.
Any ideas?
this is the 2nd lift pump in 2 days from napa.

This is why most guys upgrade their fuel system! I mentioned this is my pm's.
Yes it only runs 3 sec then quites till you start the truck then it should run. The stock pumps are junk you should have waited a day or two and ordered the correct parts you needed.
You never mentioned who rebuilt your new VP44 and did you ever check the codes to see if any is showing with the 1693? You may have another problem!
