VP44 which dealer to buy from?

I am looking into finally replacing my IP. The price seems to be all over the place, from 950-1650. I was going to get a hot rod but decided to get a standard. Has anyone used a Blue chip, is it worth the extra money? Thanks in advance Brian.

They are all built to same standard as required by Bosch. Penscola Diesel on Ebay and direct, generally has for 935 to your front door. Mine has 2500 trouble free miles on it.

While Bosch might ask for a certain standard that does not mean all these companies have the same tolerances. I can personally say that working at a pump shop that not all pumps are the same. We have encountered quality issues with a few items from some sources(speaking in general not specific to VP44 stuff). I'm not going to go into any more detail, but the old adage is mostly rure "you get what you pay for".

I think BLued Chip replaces the housing the IP is in. That may be the only difference. I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for a replacement and comparing companies because $ are all over the place.

I'd like to spend the 935$ if it is worth it!

Pumps

I was told by a dodge dealer that all older vp44 pumps will get replaced by a reman from Chyrsler. Chyrsler was no longer going to get new ones. Was told to me by Wayland Chyrsler-Dodge in Wayland, Mich. Mine was replaced at 110k with a reman, cost 2100.00 installed, got 1542.00 back from Chyrsler. waam Holland, Mich.

Number one thing to look out for is to make absolutely CERTAIN the electronics get replaced. They're the biggest trouble area with our VP44's, and for all you know you could be getting a rebuilt pump with 300k mile old electronics that might fail in 13 months, and then you're SOL.

I got mine @ Midwest Fuel Injection. MWFI.com. About $1100.00 w/ no core charge if old one is returned in 30 days. 10,000 miles and no problems.

Blue chip has been the only rebuilder I have found to replace all computers on their rebuilds. I think I'll be spending the extra for the blue chip.

I was told that authorized Bosch rebuilders have a list of updates that every rebuilt pump goes through. Fedex computer is one of those; re-sleeving the timing piston is another. These two things were something I really wanted and saw them on BlueChip site; however, once I was told that by now all rebuilders do it I found no reason to pay extra for the Bluechip.

You'd have to call them, but last I knew someone had received a CZ pump from them, which leads me to believe the answer is no.

Got mine from www.thedieselstore.com for 1,046.63, and shipping of 68.01.
There is a 500.00 core charge if you don't send the old one back within 30 days or if the old one has been "tampered" with or was involved in a fire. I didn't like Blue Chips core policy.
