Turbo question

What is the boost that the truck in my sig should produce? It's fully stock and my boost guage never gets over 11.5psi even with no load and full peddle to the floor. Does this mean my wastegate is stuck ?

Could be a stuck wastegate or a boost leak. You should be seeing 20-25psi.

Could be your gauge or turbo also? I think stuck WG's are pretty rare.
Does the truck drive well.... accelerate ok....feel and sound normal?
How many miles?
Any codes?

Everything appears normal, no codes except sometime I get a speed sensor code when I let it sit in the mornings and idle to warmup, I had a BD diesel boost elbow and was getting up to 19 ad with that was getting an overboost code. But I took it off. I've got 187,000 miles.

Strange. Overboost code should not kick in till 23-25 psi. At least that is my experience on my 02.
A boost fooler would solve the code problem. Might try the boost elbow again, just to see if behaving as before. Or even easier.... just clamp off the hose from the turbo to the wastegate.

Any other DTR members in your area. If you could borrow a Smarty and plug it in temporarily, it would tell us if there is a leak.... vs some kind of defueling or limp mode??

I'm working from memory but if a stuck open wastegate, I believe the turbo arm (attached to the wastegate actuator arm) would be angled up... as opposed to 90* to the wastegate arm.

Anyone with a factory HX-35, that can help on this?

You're not going to show much boost just stomping the pedal in neutral...not too good for the engine either. Your best boost will show in high gear running up a good hill at WOT.
You should see near 19psi. If you're seeing less, check the boost gauge plumbing for leaks.

Of course never a good plan to check at neutral. And if any one in okc,ok area have a smarty that would mind helping a fellow diesel junkie I'd be much appreciated
