Truck quit running, No start
I went out this morning and my truck cranked for a long time before it started. Once it started it ran fine. I drove about 7 miles and shut it off for about 10 minutes and agan it cranked for a very long time before it started. On th way home it started bucking, the fuel preasure this whole time was 16lbs. About 2 miles later the truck quit running and has not started since. I still have 16lbs fuel preasure and plenty of fuel to the injector pump. I have no fuel at the injectors.
I scaned for codes and have a P1693 and a P0500. The P1693 says I have a code in another module, the P0500 is that code and it is for no speed signal. Truck should still run with these codes. I think the VP44 died, am I right?

Hey Badme,
Don't take this wrong and it may sound stupid but how about the fuel freezeing up? I moved down here from North Conway (north east of you) when I was a kid and dads truck would do it now then. even with an extra heater on it. Maybe crack the line at the pump and look for ice or dirt. Sorry, no real suggestions here.

I think it's the VP44.
If it's not a fuel supply issue, per your 16lbs of pressure, than I would say the VP44 is failing. My truck had those symptoms when my VP44 was dying.

I took the fuel line off and have all kinds of fuel at the pump, then I took the return line off and have fuel there too. I also put it in the heated garage.ASD relay works, I have crank signal on the scan tool. Lucky for me the VP44 is covered under warranty. The dealer is coming to get it in the am. I just want to make sure it wasn't something stupid on my part.

The owner of the dealership is a friend of mine, he knows it is there. The warrenty is with a warrenty company, not with Dodge. I just unhooked the tap and slid the sleeve back over the wire.

Update.
The VP44 was bad, dealer installed new one under warranty. The tech took it on a test drive and only made it about 1 mile and the truck quit. The dealer towed it back in and got on a tech line with DC, they wanted him to remove the aftermarket lift pump and plumb it back to stock, then look for an airleak. The fuel guage said 1/2 tank and the odometer was at 200 miles. I suggested putting more fuel in first, we did, blead the lines it started. I drove it home (3 miles) hard and it never missed a beat. I brought it in my garage and checked for an air leak. I have it narrowed down to somewhere between where I tapped into the fuel line and the pickup in the tank. I am glad I did not listen to the DC guy. Next I will pull the tank and see what is going on inside. Any suggestions where the leak might be would be greatly appreciated.

The tech said this new VP44 got hot. Does anyone know how hot is too hot??
What are the chances of this new lift pump not lasting??
Thanks

Update:
Truck is fixed. I pulled the fuel tank today and found a leak on the fuel module.
$274.00 later and the air leak is fixed, VP44 changed under warrenty.
