Question Truck pulls of in 3rd grear

i have a 1998'5 2500 and i have had a heck of time trying to solve this problem. my truck was running fine and just out the blue the truck started pulling off in 3rd grear while in drive. i took it to local dodge dealer thinking it was a PCM or govenor pressure sensor. well they put a new PCM on and replaced to shift soleniods and govenor pressure sensor.. and also told me my torque converter was comeing apart. well after all that i still had the same problem! i had a friend of mine pull my trans and check it out. the overdrive clutchs where smoked and the pump seal was blown out. so we rebuilt everything and put another billet converter in all new. put it back in got everything together and still have the same problem!!! so we check the wireing and everything checks out fine. check the codes no codes! we put another new govner pressure in the vavle body. still the same problem. so we pull the vavle body out and checked it out nothing wrong well to be on the salf side we put a good stock vavle body back in. still the same problem. So here i am with no idea what else to check! i am still thinking its a PCM problem but idk. I am a diesel tec and have worked on my fair share of dodges but this problem is driving me up the wall. Please any advice or input would be great!

I second SIXSLUG. Dirty grounds will cause the transmission to act up. There are a bunch of them too, not just what you see around the battery cables.
I assume you tried disconnecting the batteries for at least 30 minutes, since you say they put a PCM in it, and that's the only other thing I know to do when the tranny goes into limp mode.
Next, call Goerand Bros or DTT and ask them, as they are tranny experts.

Might be worthwhile to test the batteries individually. If one is weak it will wear out the electronics.
Generally, taking off in 3rd gear is indication the GPS is stuck open.
There is a speed sensor on left side of tranny that can cause grief. It's only 20 dollars or so. Replace over trying to diagnois. Park downhill or get a ATF bath.
Were the correct parts used. 98.5 is not interchangable with 2000 and up.

I just got through replacing the GPS myself thinking it was the problem, same crap over and over but mine begins to act up with im traveling in 4th gear for a steady amount of time 5-10 minutes then it wont downshift back to first (auto) soo im beginning to wonder if its the 3-4 solenoid as well, please advise what you have figured out ace. Thanks
