Truck: 2001; 185K miles; 2x4, automatic.

Issue: Slipping going into 2nd gear

Symptom: Only occurs sometimes when accelerating into a LEFT turn from a standing stop.

Frequency of occurrence: Once/twice daily...inconsistent. Typically, the first time it happens is about 5 mins after starting to drive in the a.m. I come to a full stop...turn LEFT...accelerate no problems...then at "peak RPM" (1st gear) the engine skips or hesitates (as if slipped into neutral) for 1-2 seconds, then continues to accelerate normally. Only briefly noticeable, but is noticeable hesitation. No problems, issues afterwards.

ODD: ONLY HAPPENS WHEN MAKING LEFT TURN...doesn't happen when turning RIGHT.

Maintenance: Transmission fluid changed regularly ANNUALLY.

Towing history: Periodically I will pull 3 - 4,000lbs (2-3 times per year). No "heavy" towing.

Any thoughts?

It's not your limited slip differential grabbing is it?

I agree with jrs_dodge_diesel that it could be your LSD. Sounds quite similar to the way mine was behaving after I changed the rear gear oil to a synthetic oil. Went back to a dino rear oil with 16oz of friction modifier and no troubles since (about three years now).

danalex- My truck just started this as well. Did you ever figure out what is the cause of this issue?
