Transmission fluid changes

I need to learn how to do this myself. The only stations that seem to have ATF+4 is dealers and they price gouge. As people stated earlier Ive found it at walmart but my walmarts dont have auto lube centers. The servicing reccomends Change transmission fluid and filter, adjust bands What does adjusts bands mean? Can somebody chime in and give steps as to how to do this servicing yourself or something

How about: Bands should be checked every time you drop the pan to change the fluid.

The hardest part of adjusting the bands is finding an inch pound torque wrench.

Bands need to be checked everytime you have the pan off- it's likely that you won't have to adjust by much, but have them off adjustment just once and they'll slip much longer during shifts or mess up shift timing. Proper band adjustment is crucial to the longevity of the bands and the clutches in your tranny.

Agree 100% that bands should be checked every time the pan is removed. They really shift better when set correctly.

fbx22:
As far as ATF+4, it is available from auto zone, walmart, ORileys. Chrysler had to release the exclusive on it and so it is available all over at about $5. per quart. Even Walmart brand (Super Tech) has ATF+4 and its about $3.
( to be sold as ATF+4, it must be that grade, and so don't be afraid of the off brand) Walmart sells the Mopar brand as well as the Super Tech. Valvoline has it too. Hope this helps you.
