Transmission
I am having shifting between R and D it will take some "gooseing" of the throttle to get it to shift and also when driving it seems to not want to go into the right gear.
My question is is there a seperate controller that can be changed without breaking the bank or should I just be planning on a new trans. I have been saving for one but also have been laid off for about 5 months now and need to keep this thing running on a budget.
Thanks

I'm not real sure and maybe someone can help me, but my old Buick was acting very similar and I put a new filter and replaced the fluid and it seemed to help out a lot. Or possibly a valve body problem?

Also check for codes?
Could be Governor Pressure Solenoid. Easy to change and under $150.00. Bad Soleniod causes starting out in 2nd gear.... or not shifting into 2nd or 3rd without backing off throttle....or a few other crazy things.
Could be a few other electronic items.... codes will point you in right direction.

I'd look at the Gov Pressure Solenoid and switch. As Row stated it can cause some funny issues with shifting. A trans shop can diagnose with a pressure gauge attached while it is driving to read the different pressures. I don't remember the numbers.
