Thanks to all of you. I would never have believed it. I did an apps reset and foilover on the ground to the alternator. Cured the torque convertor problem and made a huge difference in performance. As I pulled away from the house after doing that I heard my turbo kick in for the first time in months - just hearing it made me realize that it had been relatively silent for a long time and I'd just gotten used to it. Also, almost no pedal effort needed to go up hills that I had been pushing down a bit on before. Remarkable. Kudo's to whomever discovered these links and to the forum for making it available. I can't think of how much I would have spent at the dealership.

My 99 does the same thing. It wasn't too bad until I installed a Glacier lift pump and it went from bad to worse. Tried resetting the apps, worked great until shutdown, after restart same ol same.
I went to the store bought some foil and electrical tape to try. In the process of describing what I was about to do to my 14yr old son. I pulled the black wire with a tan stripe up a bit to point it out. Maybe a half inch or so. Well something came up and I just closed the hood and went on about my business. That's been two days and 300 miles ago and the trans is working great!!!
So now I'm thinking it had nothing to do with the pump install, just that when I pulled off the ground cable on the passenger side I got the black wire closer to the alternator. If just pulling the wire away some fixed my problem then would the aluminum foil really do anthing?
Thanks!
