Tranny slip
When running down highway and kick into passing gear at about 60-70 mph seems like tranny is slipping to pass I have to let off before it grabs. Do you think I need a band adjustment they have never been adjusted and I have 47,000 miles.

Dude. I'm 21919!! (Earleville) You are the closest person I have seen on here sp far.
I can't help you on the trans,(got a feeling a band adjustment would be too simple of a fix though). Do you know the history of it? When was the last time the fluid and filter was changed?

I may be mistaken but I believe that when you floor it the Torque Converter will unlock. At that point you have to rely on the fluid connection in the TC to do the job of transmitting the torque. If it is a stock TC it will feel like you are just wasting fuel (trans slipping) until the TC locks back up again when you let off a bit.

I bought truck brand new and it did not do this until about 4 months ago. I changed trans fluid and filter at 30,000 along with filter. I did use the suggested fluis in manual which was the Chrysler ATF+4

Admittedly I do not know much about the auto trans but the TV cable and TPS seem to play a big part in the functions of our trans. Have you checked the adjustment on the TV cable? Do a search on this site for the info. I wish I could diagnose the problem for you. I am sure a auto trans guru will jump in and pinpoint the problem for you. Its frustrating when things dont work correctly.

I would get the bands adjusted anyway but it may not be the problem.
If the torque converter clutch is worn, it will do this. Mine was so worn it didn't even hold at 70mph on a small hill. I have over 100k miles on mine though.
Mine slipped bad enough that with the cruise at 70mph, the rpm would be around 1800 and going up an incline it would climb to 2200rpm just to maintain 70mph.
Not that this is your problem but it is one that would exhibit those symptoms.

Yep ... adjust the bands. You will know when it was done last, who did it and HOW to do it.
Mine started slipping like that at first and then got worse after pulling heavy. Everything cleared up after the band adjustments. There are good instructions on this site ... they came from Geno's I believe.
Keep us updated,

Been busy and haven't had time to adjust bands or frequent this site. I appreciate all the input you have given and will update when I have time to adjust the bands.
