I am having 2 problems with the tranny on my 2000 2wd auto.

Yesterday it wouldn't shift from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd unless I got off the go pedal. Later in the day it wouldn't go into park.

I crawled under it today and disconnected the linkage and am able to shift through all the gears using the shift arm on the tranny, but cannot get it into park there either.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a tranny governor.

 

If you cannot get the trans lever to the park position at the trans you are going to have to drop the pan and remove the valve body and see what is going on.
