Tranny hunting-conclusion

A week or so ago, I posted a message about my tranny's torque converter going in and out of lock-up around 38 to 42 mph.

It went into the dealer today and it was found to have a faulty TPS. We'll see if that actually cures the problem once the back-ordered TPS arrives and is installed. Pricey little things, aren't they?

Thanks to everyone that responded to my question. Makes me feel pretty darn good to know there is a reliable resource I can count on for information!

there are fixes that prevent un-needed replacement of the tps. some rewire from the pcm to the tps. most people that have installed a fix did not need the repeated replacement of the tps.

I can see why people do a rewire from the pcm to the tps... $566 bucks to replace the tps and reflash the 'puter!

I've never heard of having to reflash because of replacing the tps. Am I wrong in thinking that I'm getting hosed by the dealer?

I had the same problem and had the hing reflashed at a cost of 125 bucks. still did not fix the prblem. I then ran a 12gauge wire from the ground of the ecm to the neg terminal of the battery and have not had any problems since. took ten minutes and cost fifty cents. tryit

Hey can you give some good directions on how to do this? Which wire is the ground coming from the computer? Dodge rewired something from the one computer to the other to give it a more direct rout and it helped a great deal but I still have a little bit of a problem.

The pcm (jtec) does not require a case ground to function. I've test drove many with the controller just hanging there. Not sure why your ground seemed to fix it.
