Tranny is done, where to go from here

So as the topic states, my transmission is finished...

The truck is a 99 4 door long bed 4x4 with 110,000 miles

im thinkin she might have some other issues going on, im kinda scared of the KDP and LP/VP44 problems

so should I fix the tranny, drop in a 15-1600 stall converter and keep driving it till something else happens or is there something I can do to keep my pocket book from getting emptied when something goes wrong?

Short form since there are so many reads and no replies:

Fix and sell, or fix and prevent bigger problems... if that is possible

The question to ask yourself at a time like this is: Could I buy a better truck for what it will cost me to fix this one?

Another question to ask is do you like your truck? If so get it fixed and have the kdp fixed also. If you don't really like the truck get a different one.

I really like the truck other than the fact its not a dually

The only problems are #1 I just put a spray in bed liner in it... yea its no big deal but then I drilled a bunch of big holes in it to install a double single roll bar with light bar and a grille guard with a winch, tow mirrors, cab lights, reverse lights... 4 chan amp, mono amp, sub... a lot of little things and a lot of wires

im not even totally sure if the KDP problem even effects me, but I imagine the VP44 and LP problems do

Funny thing is I havnt drained my W/F seperator since I bought the truck and have never gotten a w/f light

I change the oil regularly with fleetguard filters

basically Im just worried that when/if I replace the tranny, something else will go wrong... ill probably go with a more solid tranny and up the boost/fuel... make some nice black smoke

KDP doesnt really affect most 24v but the 12v are really bad. thats a nice look'n rig I would keep it since you put alot of money into it and just break down and buy a tranny and TC setup. As you know ATS makes a awesome one Suncoast and a few others.I think your lookin around 5g for new tranny and TC with install.

I havnt gotten a firm quote yet but from what ive heard "cant be more than 1500 for all that stuff and maybe 250 to install, unless of course you install all that yourself"

5 g is NUTS lol hopefully its not that bad or ill never see her running again

I would put the money into it and get a new tranny. They aren't that much more then a stock rebuilt tranny, within a grand I think. And they are alot better, just start looking around at prices. That is a nice looking truck, and it is a quad cab because it has four doors.

yea that always bothered me, I thought it was extended cab because it didnt have 4 full doors... I would have much rather had a full 4 door dually but whatever

Rebuild the tranny with either a DTT/ATS/Suncoast/Gorend (sp) tranny and enjoy.
