Trailer Brake wiring installed?`
looking at a few brake controllers for my 99 ram, and they all seem to have a adapter to a plug that is supposed to already be installed in my truck if i have a factory tow package, is that true?

the factory tow pkg. comes with a pig tail , usually in the glove box or under a seat, to wire up to the controller. you need to find the pig tail and then you should be able to wire it up to the controller. Then all you have to do is plug it in. I think you may have to put a fuse in the slot for the trailer brake controller power( located in the fuse box under the hood). there should be a section in the owners manual for this if I remember right. hope this helps.

if you have a tow package, there should be a package in the glove box with the needed wires.look under the dash above the break pedal and you should see a place to plug said wires into, then brake contoller plugs into the harness that was in your glove box.

If you can't find the plug in your glove box, your dealer can order one for you also. Then you just have to wire the correct wires from the controller to the plug's harness and plug her in. Easy as pie!

You have a blue connector under the dash. When you buy the new controller get the adapter for Dodge (they are all same since 1994), it's just few dollard but you won't have to splice anything, just plug and play.
I just installed my new P3 Prodigy and took me 15 minutes with the right harness.
Next best step after controller is a 7 pin connector inside of your box, Valley makes an extension that connects into truck harness without splicing. It's sweet.
