tow hooks
Hi, Looking for some tow hooks for the front of my dodge. I would like to put the factor hooks and lower airdam like the 1500's have. Does anybody have anything, Don't want to go to dealer and pay big bucks, I went to go pull something out the other day and didn't have anything up front wasn't real happy. I just thought it had them like my chevy. I also don' like the looks of the front of my 2500 dodge with out the airdams,
thanks

I also thought that tow hooks would come standard on a 4X4, but nope.
Check evilbay, there is usually a page or 2 full of people selling Dodge tow hooks.
Here is my solution though.
3/4 inch D-ring shackles rated for 6 1/2 tons.
I have since removed the ugly orange paint and put numerous coats of black "plasti-dip" on them.
That stuff you coat tool handles with.

They are 315/75-16.
Other than the "D" load rating I rather like them.
Too much sidewall flex and kinda squirely steering because of the "D".
Only had them for a year, so unknown on how long they'll last.
I've had them on every previous truck I've owned, but never had the trucks long enough for the tires to wear out.
As to the factory hooks, you have to cut the holes in the airdam.
You'll notice the holes already outlined.
Dave Fritz has a pretty good writeup of installation of the factory ones on his website.

I was looking to get the 265, but they are also only a load rang C. the 245s are a C rating. I would like a stable ride with no washing feeling. My have to do the 245s but don't like the way they look, too small. Still don't know what to do.
thanks
I'll have to check the dealer on the tow hooks. don't see anyting on ebay.

I just bought a set of Pro Comp chrome hooks, they are rated at 10K each, and bolt right underneath the front crossmember, right under the bumper mounting bolts, where you get two layers of steel. Haven't been pulled from the front yet, but I wouldn't hesitate (the mighty Ram just doesn't get stuck ) Total cost was $14

yeah ............ they put a set of those hooks on the end of the frame rails under the front bumper on a 2500 at work ............... first time they pulled it out it bent the end of the fram rail up
I'm pretty sure the mopar hooks come with extra frame bracing
I prefer a front mounted reciever myself

dansdodgediesel, never put a C load rated tire on your truck. These are 1/2 ton tires. Even if you're running empty, your engine is too heavy to be safely carried by C rated tires.
You can get 265/75-16 tires in an E rating (this is what my CTD came with stock).
The lowest rating you want to go with is D. If you go to 19.5 inch rims, you can enjoy F and G rated tires.

dodgeram- what kind of load or weight did it take to bend the frame up? was the pull in the up direction? did the hooks bend or break? I often use some creative rigging and for safety purposes would like to know any conserns or limits . thanks

somebody put the 2500 (it's a 360gasser, not a diesel) in the ditch one day , they pulled it out with the loader (chain hooked from one hook to the loader)
when it came out the end of the frame was bent up .........
it was a fairly steep ditch, the loader was up on the road

The tow hooks are designed for a straight pull.
Any up or down, or side to side, things tend to bend.
Bad mojo to use the hooks as a lift point with a Hi-Jack fer instance.
They are already there.
For the factory hooks anyway, aftermarket may or may not line up with the holes.
