Too much Valve Lash???
Thanks to this site I set the valve lash. Saved $150. I found that the average gap on the Intakes was about 0.015"" max at 0.020. Exhaust was 0.025"avg with max at 0.035. Is this normal after 115,000 miles.
What should I see in the catagory of improvment in the operation of the engine, or will it just be quiter. In my pee brain, I would think it would breath better.
Set the Intakes to 0.009"-0.010"
Set the Exhaust to 0.018" to 0.020"
Thanks
Scott

Well, it's hard to hear the valves over the pump on the 24 valve trucks, so I wouldn't expect quieter operation. It will breathe a little better, though, your thinking is correct.

i just did mine today, they were all loose!, some about a quarter turn. the hardest part of the whole deal was pulling off the valve cover, fought with it for about 15 min.! then after all that i was dreddin putting it back on, and it pops right in place first try, 10 seconds later i was screwin bolts down. hope it makes a difference for my trip. would 10-20 MPG be too much to ask????

I had the same problem. The last cover bolt under the dash is a real pain. I found that by tipping the cover I was able to remove the bolt to get everything to clear. The wiring harness and heater hose prevented me from moving it side to side so the bolt would clear the rockers without removing it.
I didn't drive on it long enough to see a diff in mileage. My Comp box came in the next morning. Mileageis excellent now, since I can't drive it until I get the new clutch put in on Wednesday. My right foot is uncontrollable and has to be punished.
