Well I can never seem to keep my foot outta this truck, just sounds to good cruz'n! I have dragged a few trucks around town and maybe goosed it a little too much under load pulling hills. Now if I pull a big hill and ease into it I am smelling a little clutch burn and at certain shifting and rpm's (ok yes getting on it) seem's like it sticks going from 2nd to 3rd and then to 4th. Kind of a hesitation before it grabs. Whatchya think? How long will this last (guessing) and what type of clutch to dump into it?? Future mods in clude injectors, drag comp, lift, 35-36's, cam, and maybe a larger turbo. Any thoughts?

Well don't know but I do know that I need a clutch too. I left my truck sit for two weeks and I get in and drive it friday set the cruise at 58 when I get to work I can smell that thing melting. I am suppose to go pick up the new 5er wed or thur and now I don't know what to do. About a 45 min drive to get it, do I chance it and see if I make it home or not. just about everybody on here swear by southbend clutchs, but I think I looked a while back and I am thinking that they were a little too much money for me. I am hoping I can find a ceramic for cheap, but I don't know what to do.

I will tell you what the southbend is very good it is in my truck and is awsome its the FE model works like a champ!!!

I'll third it. South Bends clutches have been great to us. You'll want to pick the clutch that will take you to your target power level. The OFE will handle 450 HP without any trouble, while the FE is rated for 550 HP. If you do choose the FE, you may want to hold off on install until you get some additional power to the flywheel, as the FE needs the power to it to get it to seat properly.

How do you go about seating it? Do you slip it alot or what? Buddy of mine is looking at getting a stage 2 clutch for his gasser (V6 Stang running 13.4's or so) and he was wondering how you properly seat a higher HP clutch. That make sense to yall?

I'm not sure what sort of clutch your Mustang running buddy has, but with the South Bends, we always recommend very aggressive throttle at the beginning. Don't dump the clutch, but let the clutch out and don't be afraid to punch the throttle once you get moving.

My stock clutch held 900 HP! Well, it was two runs with 450 HP.

Only if you grease the flywheel up real good before install though.

I used the Pam cooking spray with teflon.

We tried that, but at 2781 RPM we noticed that the truck smelled like french fries cooking and I got hungry. I gained 20 lbs and lost a 1/10th in the quarter over that fiasco.

MY Yugo clutch is holding real well on the flips, rolls and tumbles. With no engine and a roll cage I think it will last a long time.
