Sure could use some help, 98 3500 24 valve 65000 miles, love it. Started with a quick hesitation on occassion then the tach drops to zero all other gauges work fine, tach will come back shortly. Then I noticed a slight over charge on the batt gauge, then when you turn the truck off it may not start back. Have started unhooking batteries for around 10 min then it starts back. Is this the crank sensor, puter or something else, check engine light has yet to come on so no help in the shop ha ha. Thanks for the help and the great sight. Greg

when my crank sensor went bad it caused the tach to bounce back and forth from whatever rpm i was at to 0....occasionally when i was stopped at a light, it would shut-off...only thing is, it would ALWAYS start right back up..it probably wouldnt hurt to have your truck checked for stored codes, your problem may be different, i dont re-call any overcharge problems..

Sounds like a crank sensor to me. Mine did the same thing. Sensors are so much fun.
