synthetic oil

Have a Ram 2500 Diesel. The engine has 106000 miles on it. What do you guys think about synthetic oil? Currently I use Rottela 15-40. Will that synthetic oil harm the engine? Does Rottela have a synthetic oil. Thanks

Rotella has a 5-40 that is well established and avaliable at attractvie price from Walmart. No problem changing to any quality diesel motor oill. Generally you can increase oil change interval with syn. Should run EAO on used oil to make sure is doing well.

I switched to Amsoil synthetic at 180,000 miles and it's doing just fine. Didn't get any leaks like some were warning about.

run amsoil... ive been running it in my truck with no problems at all. my intervals are at 12.5k with a filter change at 6 and runs like a beast. and it saves me hella $$$$ too.

I agree with the two above me....
I'd do my research and see what else you come up with.

thought about changing to synthetic, but came to conclusion.
it's better for me to keep using std oil. drain it, dump old oil directly into fuel tank. makes much more sense for me.

your mileage may veri..

No experience on the Quaker State, but I don't see how it would be better than Rotella.
