Swoosh sound driver side.. low boost...help..
Hey guys this may sound a bit on the noob side.. But I installed some stage 5 injector nozzles lastnight. and everything went well truck runs good and all. But i drove it and and i get tons of smoke and im only capable of building 25-24 psi of boost.. when i used to hit 37-38 pretty easily and I noticed a swoosh sound coming from the driver side. like i can hear the turbo but its like around the intake horn but i checked my intercooler boots and stuff and i reconnected and tightened back up and still getting the sound. but my next guess is that its leaking around the horn... Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about diagnosing this.. thanks. oh ya the truck is a 98.5 24v got 150k edge juice with attitude wire tapped, ht unlock, fass lift pump, blue chip injector pump, intake, 5" exhaust, and 150 jammer nozzles, stock turbo too.

The stock boots will swell quite a bit under boost. Have a friend ramp it up while you watch for any leaks.
I had to replace one after it rubbed a hole in it down off the intercooler on the driver's side. Check that the body sheetmetal isn't cutting it there.

thanks man ill try that, im at work now and i kinda ran over it at lunch the best i could and had someone rev it up and i can hear the sound it literally sounds like the intake horn is leaking.. i couldnt feel any air.. but i think im going to do the soapy water trick around the horn cause i do remember seeing a gasket where the horn meets the motor and well im wondering if that may not of seated just right or something ironic. ive had the horn off numerous other times and never had this problem.. and do you know if i should get bigger boost numbers with my nozzles?

I think your boost is mainly dependent on your turbo's ability to move air. Your nozzles are increasing fuel, which will effectively spin your turbo up, but a stock turbo is only going to give you so much airflow.
We used to use wd40 to check manifolds for vacuum leaks on gassers. I guess soapy water may show a blow out, but I'd maybe wrap it in blue tape and see if it blew that off or open.

I actually figured it out tonight.. There are two aluminum plungers that go into the bottom of the heater grid where it rest on the block well one of em fell out. I found it laying on the shop floor.. It was allowing air to pass by.. Building good boost and no more swoosh sound. Thank God.. But I'm only building the same boost, 37-38ish.. So I guess that's all my turbo can pass. I appreciate all the help!
