Surging '01 2500 Plese help!
I have 2001 2500 auto without any major modifications other than the exhaust. It surges when running at constant speeds. Mostly around 35pmh but goes away when you get on the throttle. Doesn't seem to have any issues at higher speeds or shifting. Has a newer transmission with about 6k on it so far. 132k on the engine. Anything helps! There are not any codes and I'm getting the run around from the mechanics.

Not sure exactly what surging means here but.. On my 01 I have had surging that I could not feel but could hear. The tach didnt change, nor could I feel it but I could definitly hear it. It was almost like a timing change. A constant every few seconds. Didnt do it all the time usually only when it was cold out. Truck would run fine and could tell nothing was wrong whatsoever except for the sound. Never could figure it out. Then my VP44 went out (dead pedal and 216 code). The new one in and it quit doing it. Fast forward a couple years it started doing it again same symptoms but not as bad or pronounced. Only seemed to do it when it was cold out and as time went by it would do it when the ambient temp was warmer and warmer. Again my vp went out and after the new one it no longer did it. The time span between when it was "surging" to when my vp's really crapped out was many months so I couldnt really draw a definitive conclusion however after the new vp's were installed it would quit doing it Been a couple years now and hasnt done it again.
Was it the beginning sign of my vp going out dont know.

Mine also does this (with cruise or very slight throttle on a downhill). It sounds like it's "sputtering" a little, and I can feel it too. But the tach/speedo stay the same.

if its a surge like falling between gears, try cleaning you batt cables, your computer tells your tranny when to shift, and if it detect a interuption or lack of voltage in the system it wont shift right,my 99 does this perriodically and after i clean the terminals it goes away, dodges are very finacy that way.
