Not sure if it is parallel or series, but it is a twelve volt system. Both postives are connect together and both negitives are to ground. Hope that this helps.

They're connected in parallel which gives two batteries the same voltage as one but doubles the amps. Hooking them in series would double the voltage but keep the amps the same as one.

that makes sense.

guess that one big battery would be to huge to put any where.

so if I were to ever have to jump start the truck. I can just jump one of the batteries.

what about using a battery charger?
do you charge one at a time? or will putting it on one battery charge both of them?

Yes, you can jump the truck with one battery but in reality if you have to jump start the truck and you're wanting to charge the batteries then you really need to separate the batteries from each other and figure out whats going on with them separately. If one battery is bad then I highly suggest that you replace them both at the same time with the same size and brand. Dont mix old with new or different brands or sizes. Thats very bad to do and will result in possible damaged charging system and one battery causing the other to go bad too.

Also - when replacingbatteries always ensure they are identical units.
