straight piped vs. just resonator

I've got a question. I had the muffler cut off and replaced with a chunk of 4" pipe but left the resonator on. It still isn't loud enough!! will removing the resonator make it sound any sweeter? or maybe...anybody know of a 5" exaust out there?

Mine is completely straight. Then best part is when I pass pedestrians and they put their hands over their ears ;D. Some people leave it on because they say they here a drone. If you want it loud straight it and put a larger tip on it. Then watch the peds cover their ears ;D . Gonzo will tell you how loud it is.

yeah, getting rid of the resonator will make it louder. 5" stacks would be annoying, but louder none the less 8) a friend of mine has a 5" Bully Dog system- it sounds great. it sounds like a it's straight piped at idle, but if you really tromp on it, the muffler cuts down on some of the noise. i know a guy who also has a 5" straight pipe with it turned down underneath the bed. now that was the loudest exhaust (besides stacks) that i've ever heard!

Tom

Re:straight piped vs. just resonator

i doubt that's it's still there, but there was a reg cab dually flat bed dodge on E Bay. it had stacks (or side pipes if you want to call them that) along the bottom of the truck--- straight piped of course (being from Texas). didn't look too bad, but i would want to step on them like side steps.

Re:straight piped vs. just resonator

I thought about trying to rig up a way for the exhaust to flow through my step bars. I gave up after a while. A side exhaust system would be pretty sweet. Mine's 4" straight and dumps right after the cab (that's the legal way to do it in Sugar Land).
