I haven't checked in a while, but I have had the 1693 code since I bought the thing. VP is fine, and the diesel tech couldn't figure it out. IIRC, it wouldn't show up on the odometer window, but the smarty would pick it up. I should check it out again.

Ya I don't think that 1693 code has anything to do with my problem any more. There are lots of people with strong running trucks that have it.

dont know if this will help but here it is i found it while researching VP44 and lift pump problems and how to diagnois it.

"If you see the code 216, or if there are injection pump codes, or even if you have NO codes for the injection pump AND you have ANY of the above listed drivability complaints, YOU NEED AN INJECTION PUMP! Code 1693 only means there are codes in the other computer, which have NOTHING to do with the fuel system."

here is the link to the whole article

http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/VP44INFO.html

read and enjoy...as well take it for what it is worth...i wouldnt read it as the bible because everyone is trying to sell THEIR product.

I saved my pennies and put a new map, iat and coolant temp sensors in my truck still runs the same. I am going to check the temp of the exhaust runners in the morning to see if one or all the cylinders are not getting fuel. Something is stopping it from getting fuel as my egt's never hit 1000 degrees even on level 5 with the go go pedal to the floor. Any other ideas?
