Sticking / Grinding feeling with wheel turned & moving....
Lately when I have the wheel turned either way & I'm backing up or pulling forward I can feel a sticking or grinding sensation in the truck....You can't really hear it, but you can just feel it....I'm wondering if this is the limited slip in the rear? I put a tube of Amsoil limited slip in it the last time I changed the fluid....Is it usually not enough to just use one tube of the stuff? It only occurs when the wheels are turned & truck is moving slow....

well, i'm not sure if it is the cause of the grinding but the drivers side has a slight amount of play in it at 9 & 3.....the ujoint looked ok to me...it's really hard to tell what is causing the problem because the only time you can feel the grinding is when the truck is on the ground....does nothing out of the ordinary when i turn the wheels when it's off the ground....

thanks...i did use the amsoil 75W-110 this last time I changed it....not sure if that made a difference....first time i changed it out i used Royal Purple but it said it wasn't necessary to use it with their gear oil & i didn't have this problem....It seems to have progressively gotten worse the past 6 months.....Can you damage anything by not running enough limited slip additive?

looks like that was the problem. i put another tube in & it stopped. i truthfully wasn't sure what it was for a while & ran it like that for several months with only one tube of the stuff in there. can you damage anything by running it like that for a long time?

I dont believe so, problem occurs when it stops making noise (LOL) if the clutches go you wont hear or feel anything, mine were gone for a long time, as the diff started acting like a open diff.
these clutches and steels cost around 100$(spicer) and it was pretty easy to instal
