Unhappy starting dilema

I recently sold my1998 dodge to my dad,but not before I had to replace the lift pump, injector pump and fuel filter. I had noticed it being hard to start after sitting for about 30 minutes or more, but it is now getting worse. The truck has 246,000 miles and an Edge EZ on it. We recently discovered that if you park the truck facing downhill it will start correctly as soon as you hit the key. But if you park it on the flat or facing uphill it takes a lot of cranking to get it to fire. Any suggestions would help a lot.

Sounds like air is getting into the lines somehow.
