Stacks question.
I was wondering if anybody has pics of there home done stack boxes or has anyone just order parts from donaldson or anywhere similiar that can help me get by without buying a pricey kit. Thanks.

I did my stacks myself. Bought the pipe, elbows, felx pipe, and clamps form a local heavy duty truck supplier. Bought all the pipes and everything for just over 200 bucks. I had a stack off a kenworth laying aournd that i cut and used as the stacks. Mine is all 5inch pipe from the down pipe back. 5inch pipe is usually cheap that 4in and in my opinion it sounds 100% better. I also made my own "Y" pipe.

I'm in the same situation as you and plan on doing the same thing. Ofcourse I'm making it harder on myself and I'm gonna try and bring my stacks up on either side of the third brake light. Just thought I'd try something a little different. I've had guys tell me that the stacks with fabricated boxes don't sound quite right, so I'm gonna try and do it all with 5" tubing.

Ive had both and really can't tell much difference between the box and the pipe. The box does do a neater job and you don't have to clamp the stacks to the front of the bed. The vibration from the stacks will break the bed front loose from the sides unless you run a piece of angle across to tie it all together. .. been there done that!! Just don't weld the stacks directly to the box tubing, use a pipe connector cut in half to weld to the box, then clamp the stacks to it. It only adds about 12 bucks to the job and you can easily take the stacks off if you ever want to change styles or such. Ive changed mine I think 4 times so far!
