sooty turbo fins

Took out my silencer ring and found that my turbo blades were sooty no dirt anywhere else, I just thought they were supposed to be clean. Could it be from the AFE. Not alot of dust up here in western washington. No big deal or something to worry about?

Probably dirty oil off the AFE, unless you have an exhaust brake.

I had the same problem when I first installed my K&N Filter.
If any oil based filter is over oiled, the turbo will pull the excess oil off the filter and that oil will coat the turbo fins.
Any dirt that gets past the filter will then stick to the oil coated turbo fins.

I spent half a day cleaning the excess oil off my turbo fins. You dont want the fins to get dirty.
