Re:Slow off the line???
The reason my comp wire is still unattatched a year after the install is there are more pressing needs for the $$$$ I bring home than dropping 4 Large for a tranny right now.
We're getting about $4K back in taxes, but it has already been allocated to housing maintenance, and "Other" things.
So I have to put it off for a few more months.....life goes on. 8)
I STILL get to drive a beast of a truck every day. ;D
Re:Slow off the line???
I've got an '02 dually four by four, sitting high, with a Comp (no wire yet) and DD2's and some other things. It was OK until I put the stuff on, and now it flies pretty well. Local Cummins mechanics want to put wings on it, they like it. I also own a 1968 Dodge Charger with a 426 hemi V-8 that my dad gave me. Boff car, but what I like about my CTD is that it's really, really big and it flies. It's the combination of the two, that's the beautiful thing. Like a battleship that skips waves like a nitro boat. Head turning.

Re:Slow off the line???
Better thing. Positrac 4x4 dually in a Wally World parking lot on rain slick pavement. 6 wheels smoking with exhaust smoke, too. I did that a few weeks ago. Tires spun in the wet, dried the pavement, smoked six for several seconds, and then bit in and I took off. :
Not a good thing to do, too much.

Re:Slow off the line???
I did a quick power brake today on dry pavement. I put my foot on the brake and started to accelerate. At first it wouldn't spin but once the turbo started spooling up they couldn't help but turn loose!!
I too have a few grand which I got back yesterday which I am not sure what do do with. I gave my wife $300.00 and jokingly said " Waste this on whatever you want, the rest is going into the monster to make it a little faster". Surprisingly she said "OK, I got what I wanted" What a perfect wife!! ;D Unfortunately I am not going to spend it all on the truck. I don't want to spend $4000 on a trans either so I don't think I'll be putting on any more power adders in the near future. I did see a place that sells new Edge Comps for $600.00 though. Hmmmm....
It was that on that "How things work" website

Re:Slow off the line???
Don't try too many "Power-Brake" launches on dry pavement with the stock tranny as some have managed to "weld" the clutches in the tranny by generating that much heat, others have broken input or output shafts.

Re:Slow off the line???
I know SH. I used to drag race my 68 Road Runner 440 and learned my lesson about waiting for the guy to hose down the burnout box. This is only the second time I've done it.. I took my cap off yesterday and the truck looks so much cooler without it!! 8) It kinda makes me want to make it a little faster now!! I just don't know what to do..

Re:Slow off the line???
I think Id see gears spinning before I saw my tires spinning.

With 3:55 gearing and 33" M/T tires.... well... I think the tranny would break lose before the tires do.

:

Rich

Dodgezilla. I ask myself the same thing. Where will this end? I am hesitant to push on the go pedal if I do it to much I spin the back, and then have to hold on for dear life What a rush. I push the trans all the time it is a great auto has taken 1000 lbs/torque for over a year and still working great. OverFueled
