Silencer Ring back in...Anyone Else?

Several weeks ago I took out the silencer ring. Loved the sound, but thought the turbo was taking longer to get up and go. I thought my truck was slowly losing power and started chasing that. I tightened all the intercooler clamps, new K&N filter, new fuel filter, oil change. The truck still didn't seem as powerful as before. It had been a while since I towed my boat and two days ago I pulled the boat on the highway. Hills that it used to pull easily in 6th gear, I now needed to downshift.
I put the silencer ring back in this morning and the truck seems to pull better with the ring installed. I'll be getting my boat in a couple of weeks from the dealer and it will be interesting to see how it responds on the highway. The turbo sounds like it spools quicker and at a lower RPM. Has anyone else put the ring back in? It looks like the ring directs the air into the center of the turbo. How does that silence the turbo?

I didn't think the silencer ring had any effect on performance.... :

I agree with Cattle on this one never had any effects on my truck. I like the sound too much to take it off. I have had people ask me if I had twins on it the turbo was so loud. ;D

I wish I had twins

When I first took mine off I noticed spool up a bit slower. In the end, the sound was what won me over.

I didn't notice a difference with it out. But it sure sounds better! 8)

Mike

I removed mine Monday (11-18), seems to me to actually be quieter with my stock air box and K&N replacement filter. Maybe it is time for me to fabricate a aluminum box for a BHAF!
