signs of worn out clutch?
When I let my clutch pedal out, it feels like its almost completely out before it engages. Should it engage right when I start letting it out(from the floor), or near the end of its travel)? Its not slipping while in gear right now.

All clutches are different some grab at the bottom some at the top. When I put the south bend clutch in mine it changed the feel and now it grabs at the bottom, it used to grab about midway. My mom & dads trucks grab at the top. I guess its the difference in hydraulics or the presser plates.

The only time I've ever noticed a smell is last night when i was trying to put my flatbed car hauler into the barn. Dad had parked the tractor in a way that I had inches to spare so I was backing (slight uphill) and riding the clutch in reverse. I smelled something and figured it was the clutch, cause I wasn't really using a lot of brakes. Yeah, it does chatter a little every once in a while coming out of reverse. Maybe its just me, but when I'm backing a trailer into a tight spot or hooking up to a trailer, if I let the clutch all the way out, LOOK OUT, cause there's bound to be a collision. Do you guys ride your clutch like this??
