Should the front end do this?

I was under the truck with a grease gun and grabbed the stabilizer shock to pull myself under and the 2 rods connected to it are very loose, I can twist them with my hand very easily, the tie rod and drag link according to haynes repair manual. Should they be loose or am i in for a large bill. There is a small loose feeling in the wheel but not bad at all and was just going to change the shock to see if that helps. Anybody have any input on this?

The tie rod and drag link will normally rotate on the rod ends as you described. If there is any vertical or lateral movement in the rod ends then they need replacing.
